Every product team holds strong opinions about what its customers need. Your job is to find out where ours are wrong, and to present it in a way the team cannot comfortably ignore.
That second half is the harder one, and it is why this is a senior role rather than a research-operations function.
The work
Methods and output:
- Run interviews, diary studies and usability tests with customers in several countries
- Turn findings into recommendations product and design actually use
- Build a repository so insight compounds instead of evaporating
- Design and analyse surveys with sound methodology
- Teach the team to run decent lightweight research themselves
What we are looking for
Four or so years in UX research with strong qualitative methods and honest analysis — including the discipline to report the finding that kills a favourite idea.
Pragmatism about depth versus pace matters here; we ship weekly.
Where you work
This one is fully remote. We care where you are only insofar as the law does: you need the right to work in the UK or the US already, because there is no office attached to this job for us to sponsor you into. Beyond that, work from wherever you work best.
We overlap a few hours a day and write the rest down. Most decisions live in documents and pull requests rather than meetings, which is partly a philosophy and mostly a consequence of being spread across time zones.
Pay and the rest of it
$90,000–$125,000 a year, reviewed every year against the market for where you live, plus share options — everyone here owns a piece of the company.
Flexible hours, a budget for whatever laptop and desk you actually want, an annual learning budget, generous paid time off that we check people take, and paid parental leave for every parent however you become one.
How to apply
Use the form at the bottom of this page. Attach your CV and write a few sentences about why this role — not a cover letter, just the honest version. If something in this posting is wrong for you but the rest fits, say so; we would rather know.
We read every application ourselves and reply to all of them, including the ones we turn down. If you need any adjustment to the process, tell us in your note and we will arrange it.
