How the Cash Flow Calculator works
Cash flow is the movement of money in and out of your business over a period, and it is what actually keeps the lights on. Net cash flow is simply cash received minus cash paid out; add it to your opening balance and you get the cash you finish the period with.
Cash flow is not the same as profit — a profitable business can still run out of money when clients pay late. That is why prompt invoicing, shorter payment terms and chasing overdue accounts do more for a small business than almost anything else. Model the period here, then tighten the biggest leak.

What is cash flow?
The money moving in and out of your business over a period. Net cash flow is cash in minus cash out — positive means you built cash, negative means you burned it.
Is cash flow the same as profit?
No. Profit can look healthy while cash runs dry if clients pay late. Cash flow tracks actual money movement, which is why getting invoices paid on time matters.
How do I improve cash flow?
Invoice promptly, shorten payment terms, chase overdue accounts, and smooth big outgoings. Faster invoicing is the simplest lever.
